 Do you want to know more about contemporary art?

Why is art made by living artists often be so enigmatic and difficult to grasp?

Grace Adam and Joshua White’s London Art Club is starting a series of courses combining illustrated talks with visits to exhibitions and collections. We have carefully designed our new courses to give you a clear understanding of important concepts, influential artists, and the materials and techniques they use.

London is one of the world’s leading centres of contemporary art. We will be taking advantage of the city’s numerous art institutions; galleries - public and private. Visit a range of exhibitions and permanent collections you will learn about how and why artists make art today.

We’ll tackle questions like “How does art made now reflect the culture and preoccupations of our age?”

We’ll visit collections at Tate Britain, Tate Modern and the Saatchi Collection as well temporary solo and group exhibitions. at commercial galleries.

In lectures, discussions and gallery visits, you will learn about:

  • The materials and techniques artists use

  • The ideas and influences on contemporary artists

  • How artists in history have shaped the art of today

  • Where contemporary artists show their work

  • Who determines which artists are exhibited

  • The economics of contemporary art

  • How and why collectors support artists

  • The role of museums and public collections

  • How commercial galleries work with artists and collectors

  • The difference between the primary and secondary markets?

This is a three-day intensive programme intended to provide a comprehensive introduction to the contemporary art world.
