Michelangelo/Viola: Life Death Rebirth at the Royal Academy

Two artists set apart by 400 years using different media are paired together in this challenging and unconventional exhibition at the Royal Academy in London. Michelangelo created charged and emotional drawings which illustrate scenes from Christianity and pagan mythology. Bill Viola makes films to communicate profound experiences for the body and the mind. How do these artists examine shared interests and themes but in wholly different eras? The Art Channel explores the value of exhibiting Michelangelo and Viola side by side.
