Grace Adam is an artist and lecturer, with an in-depth understanding of art: the ways it is made, the concepts and ideas behind it and its place in society.
She has a BA Hons in Fine Art, and completed her M.A. in Sculpture and Installation at Chelsea College of Art & Design. Following this she was Chelsea Fellow at the college for a year. She holds a PGCert in Teaching and Learning, and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Authority.
She teaches History & Theory and Studio on Graduate and Post Graduate courses at Chelsea College of Arts, University of the Arts London. She has written and taught, and led departments at London College of Communication and Chelsea. At the Royal Academy of Arts, Grace gives in depth talks to sponsors and patrons on current exhibitions.
Grace has worked with many major galleries in London where she has created and delivered lectures, seminars, workshops and CPD, (Whitechapel Gallery, The Serpentine Gallery, The Royal Academy of Arts, The Courtauld Institute, Tate Modern and Britain and the National Portrait Gallery.) Areas covered include drawing, life drawing, collage, painting and sculpture, as well as lecturing on specific artists and movements.
The British Council, Myanmar has awarded her bursaries and commissions to work with young artists and curators. Projects have included producing three films exploring the UK art scene, online publications; How to Get into Art School, and How to prepare your Portfolio.
In her own practice, she works between drawing, painting and sculpture, and is particularly interested in our environments, how we build, negotiate and use them, as well as concepts of the everyday. Adam exhibits regularly and has been Artist in Residence at institutions including St Giles in the Fields Church, Museum of Domestic Architecture, Whitechapel Gallery, HMP Prison Gartree, The Gibberd Trust, Banff Centre for the Arts, Canada, as well as many schools and colleges.
